Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture combined with functional electrical stimulation in promoting lower limb motor function in patients with incomplete spinal cord injury. Methods 90 patients with incomplete spinal cord injury were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group received functional electrical stimulation treatment, while the observation group received combined electroacupuncture treatment. The changes of muscle strength, lower extremity motor score, lower extremity sensory score, walking index for spinal cord injury II (wisci II), modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) score, gait parameters were observed, and the clinical efficacy and treatment safety of the two groups were compared. Results The difference in total effective rate between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05); There was a statistically significant difference in muscle strength, lower limb motor and sensory scores, WISCI II, MAS scores, and gait parameters between the two groups compared to before treatment (P<0.05), and there were statistically significant differences in the above indicators or scores between the two groups after treatment (P < 0.05); No treatment-related adverse events occurred during treatment in both groups. Conclusion Electroacupuncture combined with functional electrical stimulation is effective in the treatment of incomplete spinal cord injury. It can improve the muscle strength of quadriceps femoris and tibialis anterior muscle, alleviate muscle rigidity and spasm, and promote the recovery of lower limb motor function and sensory function.
