| Asthma, also known as bronchial asthma, is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by variable and reversible airflow obstruction and recurrent episodes of wheezing, dyspnea, and chest tightness, which are often aggravated at night and in the morning. It is prevalent in childhood and the incidence has increased significantly in recent years, with a significant contribution from both genetic and environmental factors. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), as short non-coding RNAs, play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of asthma by regulating gene expression. In particular, they play a key role in inflammatory responses and immune regulation. Studies have found that specific miRNAs are differentially expressed in asthma patients, which may serve as potential biomarkers for disease diagnosis and treatment. Understanding the role of miRNAs in pediatric asthma is of great significance in revealing the underlying mechanisms of the disease and developing new therapies. |
